Agony of The Syrian Citizens

 WE NEED PEACE IN SYRIA

I sit on a mammoth mountain
Holding the map of a nation
I Stare at map with fondness
While I savour the smell of peace
But mood wouldn't be retained for long;
Map suddenly bleeds
Blood flows like the Red Sea
Children's tears deafen my ears
Adults wail in agony
Brutality and cruelty kill without ceasing.

Peace is sick in syria
Should we call violence to treat?
Love is jailed in Syria
Should we employ hatred to defend?
Humanity is assaulted in Syria
Should we call inhumanity to Judge?
Death is thief in Syria
Should we call Deaths to arrest?

War is a whore
It seduces death to be its lover
While being engaged to catastrophe.

Confusion parties within me
Violence must halt
But certainty of identity of the STOPPER
eludes me
How can peace be so costly
When all we need to purchase is love?

SURVIVAL INSTICT: What it takes to earn a living At a pretty tender age.

Thanks to their parents-the fortunate will found themselves in school doing something decent in preparation for the future, while the unfortunate ones, at a pretty tender age are left to figure out themselves on the streets what it takes to earn a living. It is a commonplace in a country that is one of the major oil producers in the world. In Nigeria, Children are seen daily hawking goods in on highways, contributing to various heavy labour workforces even where they were supposed to be restricted to adults, and carrying out menial jobs. They had no choice but to play to the tune of survival instinct, one that meant they have to fend for themselves at a very young age.

South Africa VS Nigeria Preview: Depleted Bafana Bafana face Africa’s champions

South Africa and Nigeria resume their rivalry during the Nelson Mandela Challenge on Wednesday night.

South Africa will need to steel themselves for a tough examination against Africa Cup of Nations champions Nigeria at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday night.

The match, to be played in honour of the ailing 95-year-old Nelson Mandela, should serve as perfect preparation for both outfits as they ready themselves for crucial World Cup qualifiers in early September.

Nigeria returns to the country where they ended a 19-year title drought earlier this year, with a strong squad and an exceptional record against hosts South Africa.

Stephen Keshi has included the likes of Chelsea star Victor Moses and Africa Cup of Nations hero Sunday Mba in the traveling party, while Emmanuel Emenike has withdrawn from the squad following his move to Turkish club Fenerbache.

Chelsea's Kenneth Omeruo will also not take part in the match, as the defender is still recovering from a shoulder injury he picked up during the Africa Cup of Nations.

John Obi Mikel, expected to lead Nigeria against Bafana Bafana, has also pulled out of the match with the team citing an infection as the reason behind his withdrawal.

Gordon Igesund’s initial Bafana Bafana squad has been weakened due to the withdrawal of six Orlando Pirates players, who have Caf Champions League commitments this weekend. Igesund will also be without Anele Ngcongca who failed to arrive for national duty on Tuesday, with club side Genk claiming the full-back has sustained an injury.

SuperSport United defender Bevan Fransman will miss out due to personal matters, while Innocent Mdledle has been replaced by AmaZulu’s Marc van Heerden after suffering a hamstring injury.

Another injury has ruled out Bennett Chenene from participating in the match, with South Africa likely to rely on their host of in-form Kaizer Chiefs players in the squad.

Gordon Igesund has called up two uncapped players, with Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu and Free State Stars striker Luyolo Nomandela joining the squad of 22.

Tokelo Rantie joined Bafana Bafana on Tuesday, while hard-working midfielder Dean Furman completes the list of overseas-based players named in the squad.

DID YOU KNOW?

  •     South Africa has only defeated Nigeria once in seven attempts, with the Super Eagles winning five of the matches. There has been one draw between the two sides since they first met in 1992.

  •     In their first meeting in 1992, Nigeria welcomed South Africa back to international football with a 4-0 thrashing in Lagos.

  •     Bafana Bafana were able to overcome a weakened Nigerian squad 2-1 in 2004, during the Nelson Mandela Challenge.

  •     Since regaining the Africa Cup of Nations title, Nigeria have produced mixed results, only notching up three wins in their last nine matches.

  •     South Africa has included seven players in their squad which took part in the Cosafa Cup earlier this year.

15 Useful and Helpful Tricks For Your Body

One of the complex machine in the world is nothing but Our human body. There are lot of amazing things that are yet to be learned from the human body. Not all things are know to our body, there are few cool tricks that we can teach our body. So, let’s see those cool tips…

1.) If you've got an itch in your throat, scratch your ear. When the nerves in the ear get stimulated, they create a reflex in the throat that causes a muscle spasm, which cures the itch.

2.) Having trouble hearing someone at a party or on the phone? Use your right ear it's better at picking up rapid speech. But, the left is better at picking up music tones.

3.) If you need to relieve yourself BADLY, but you're not anywhere near a bathroom, fantasize about RELATIONS. That preoccupies your brain and distracts it.

4.) Next time the doctor's going to give you an injection, COUGH as the needle is going in. The cough raises the level of pressure in your spinal canal, which limits the pain sensation as it tries to travel to your brain.

5.) Clear a stuffed nose or relieve sinus pressure by pushing your tongue against the roof of your mouth then pressing a finger between your eyebrows. Repeat that for 20 seconds it causes the vomer bone to rock, which loosens your congestion and clears you up.

6.) If you ate a big meal and you're feeling full as you go to sleep, lay on your left side. That'll keep you from suffering from acid reflux it keeps your stomach lower than your esophagus, which will helpskeep stomach acid from sliding up your throat.

7.) You can stop a toothache by rubbing ice on the back of your hand, on the webbed area between your thumb and index finger. The nerve pathways there stimulate a part of the brain that blocks pain signals from your mouth.

8.) If you get all messed up on liquor, and the room starts spinning, put your hand on something stable. The reason: Alcohol dilutes the blood in the part of your ear called the cupula, which regulates balance. Putting your hand on something stable gives your brain another reference point, which will help make the world stop spinning.

9.) Stop a nose bleed by putting some cotton on your upper gums right behind the small dent below your nose and press against it hard. Most of the bleeding comes from the cartilage wall that divides the nose, so pressing there helps get it to stop.

10.) Nervous? Slow your heart rate down by blowing on your thumb. The vagus nerve controls your heart rate, and you can calm it down by breathing.

11.) Need to breathe underwater for a while? Instead of taking a huge breath, HYPERVENTILATE before you go under, by taking a bunch of short breaths. That'll trick your brain into thinking it has more oxygen, and buy you about 10 extra seconds.

12.) You can prevent BRAIN FREEZE by pressing your tongue flat against the roof of your mouth, covering as much surface area as possible. Brain freeze happens because the nerves in the roof of your mouth get extremely cold, so your brain thinks your whole body is cold. It compensates by overheating which causes your head to hurt. By warming up the roof of your mouth, you'll chill your brain and feel better.

13.) If your hand falls asleep, rock your head from side to side. That'll wake your hand or arm up in less than a minute. Your hand falls asleep because of the nerves in your neck compressing so loosening your neck is the cure. If your foot falls asleep, that's governed by nerves lower in the body, so you need to stand up and walk around.

14.) Finally, this one's totally USELESS, but a nice trick. Have someone stick their arm out to the side, straight, palm down. Press down on his wrist with two fingers. He'll resist, and his arm will stay horizontal. Then, have him put his foot on a surface that's half an inch off the ground, like a stack of magazines, and do the trick again. Because his spine position is thrown off, his arm will fall right to his side, no matter how much he tries to resist.

15.) Got the hiccups? Press thumb and second finger over your eyebrows until the hiccups are over - usually, in a short while.

Oyindemilade and Oyinkansola (A humourous traditional love poem)

Oyindemilade and Oyinkansola (A humourous traditional love poem)

I
In my beautiful 'dansiki'
I saw a black lady like 'amala dudu'
Shining like a diamond
Heart purer than white pap
Face tender than mushroom
Words she possess melt iron
Beads worn on her hands and neck
Dangle to the rhythm of 'ewi'
I read romantically to her ears.

II
My Oyindemilade,
I can only close my eyes and dream,
While honey coated words flow
From his lips to my heart
Oyindemilade, the world is unfair
We can only reach out and touch
The wind blows away our hope to feel
Each others pulse therein
While the alps and briny barricade
Part us like day and night.

III
The breeze of her scents
Spreads through my bamboo fence
Calling on the tree to tell me
That her touch have made the gods run mad
Admiring her yellow paw paw skin
Her blessed smiles made the village town-criers
Forget to share their messages to the land
Her gaze melts the heart of amadioha
To perfume the land in the encantation of justice.

I hid behind the sunset
But you found me out
When you appeared with sunrise.

Castigation I avoided by denying
But your sudden appearance
Revived the cocooned past
Faking it by falsifying
Had united me with my revilers
But you stormed in
In your beautiful ugliness
And displaced the pretty lies.

A beauty contest was held
To verify my words
Ugly truth contested with my pretty lies
But to my bewilderment
The truth emerged victorious
But She wouldn't persecute me
She moved closer in her ugliness
And embraced me Informing me that her ugliness Was nothing but an illusion
Created by an enemy-fear.

Twelve Causes of Infertility In Women.

Several factors responsible for infertility in women may include the following:

1. Premature ovarian failure: This is a situation where a woman’s ovaries stop working before she is 40.

2. Medications: Long-term use or a high dosage of some medications such as ibuprofen and aspirin can make it more difficult for a woman to conceive. Some medications used to treat cancer can cause ovarian failure. Others include illegal drugs such as cocaine and marijuana.

3. Dilatation and curettage (D&C): This is a process involved in abortion, or other diagnostic or treatment processes which involves scrapping the womb. This could cause some damage to the womb and result in infertility.

4. Stress: Stress can contribute to loss of libido (sex drive) which in turn can reduce the frequency of sexual intercourse. Severe stress may also affect female ovulation.

5. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs): There are several sexually transmitted infections (STIs) that can cause infertility. For example, chlamydia can damage the fallopian tubes in women.

6. Defective cervical mucus: During ovulation, the mucus in cervix becomes thinner and slippery to enable the man’s sperm to swim through it more easily. If there is a problem with the mucus, it can make it harder to conceive.

7. Fibroids: Fibroids are clumps of tissues that grow in, or around the womb. These are capable of reducing female fertility.

8. Endometriosis: Endometriosis is a condition where small pieces of the womb lining, known as the endometrium, start growing in other places, such as the ovaries. This can affect egg maturation and release, and therefore cause infertility.

9. Pelvic inflammatory disease: Pelvic inflammatory disease is an infection of the upper part of the woman’s reproductive tract, such as the womb (uterus), the fallopian tube as well as the ovaries.

His can lead to the blockage of the fallopian tubes making fertilization impossible.

10. Age: About 1 in every 3 women over 35 years have fertility problems. This is because the woman’s ovaries become less able to release eggs, she has a smaller number of eggs left, and her eggs are not as healthy. Besides, she is more likely to have a miscarriage.

11. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS): This is a situation where many small follicles (cysts) develop within the ovary, and makes it more difficult for the ovaries to produce egg.

12. Thyroid problems: Both an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) and an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) can prevent ovulation.

ACF, Tinubu, Others Hail APC Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday approved the registration of the All Progressives Congress, thereby putting an end to the series of political horse-trading over the ownership of the acronym, APC.

A terse statement issued in Abuja by Mr. Kayode Idowu, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, said with the approval, the Action Congress of Nigeria, All Nigeria Peoples Party and the Congress for Progressive Change which formed the APC, had satisfied the requirements for registration.

INEC also approved the withdrawal of the individual certificates of the three parties and issued a single certificate to APC.

The statement reads: “The Independent National Electoral Commission has approved the application by three political parties – the ACN, the ANPP and the CPC – to merge into one, to be known as the All Progressives Congress.

“On considering the application, the commission found that the applicant-parties have met all statutory requirements for the merger, and has accordingly granted their request.

“Consequently, the commission has approved the withdrawal of the individual certificates of the applicant-parties, and the issuance of a single certificate to the APC.”

The registration drew immediate reactions from the APC, the Peoples Democratic Party, Arewa Consultative Forum, a former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, and the presidential candidate of the former ACN in the 2011 presidential election,Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

While the APC described the development as victory for Nigerians, the PDP said it would not lose sleep over it.

The APC, in a statement by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said with its registration, Nigerians now had an alternative to the ruling PDP, which it said had taken them “ for a bad ride in the past 14 years.”

It added that its registration would propel the country to the league of top democratic nations with two major political parties.

The statement reads, “The journey has been long and tortuous. All sorts of obstacles were thrown onto our path by anti-democratic forces, but we were painstaking, determined and unrelenting in our quest for a formidable platform that will allow our country, Nigeria, to achieve her full potential and join the league of respectable nations.

“With the approval of our merger by the INEC and the emergence of the APC, today (Wednesday) marks the beginning of a new dawn for our country and her long-suffering people. We thank Nigerians both here and in the Diaspora for standing by us.

“We thank the media for their fairness and we commend the INEC for doing the right thing and for not succumbing to pressure from phantom political associations that sought to force it to circumvent the law.

“We promise not to disappoint Nigerians who have reposed much confidence in us. We say that contrary to the lies being peddled by the naysayers, we are not seeking political power for the sake of getting it, but in order to use it to empower our people and allow their long-nursed hopes and dreams to become a reality.

“And to those who have vowed to change their names if APC survives for a year, we hope they will live up to their words.’’

The party promised to unveil, in the days ahead, its membership registration plans to give all Nigerians, especially those disenchanted with the way things were going on in the country, the much-awaited opportunity to be a part of the country’s democratic process in the true sense of the word.

‘’We will also be unveiling our plans to turn today’s hopelessness into a time of great opportunities, to reverse the downward slide in our socio-economic development, and to ensure that every Nigerian benefits from the commonwealth, instead of the present situation in which a few fat cats are milking the system dry at the expense of the citizenry,’’ it said.

One of the founders of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, said the registration by INEC signalled “the commencement of a new phase in the struggle to bring true democratic change to Nigeria.”

Describing the coming together of the ACN, CPC and ANPP as not just a merger, he said “this is the first ever merger in the history of Nigeria and it represents a paradigm shift in our politics.”

Tinubu, who congratulated the ACN, CPC and ANPP governors as well as other leaders of the APC for making the registration possible, however, challenged all progressive politicians to “ rise up to answer the call of history to liberate our people.”

He also hailed “millions of Nigerians who stood by us during the long process to form the APC,” and the leadership of INEC “for this positive pronouncement.”

“Nigerians must give INEC a pat on the back for complying with the law of the land. What INEC has done is to follow the constitution and the electoral act to the letter. We hope INEC will continue in this spirit of independence and respect for the rule of law in all its future operations, “ Tinubu said in a statement by his media aide, Sunday Dare.

A co-founder of the APC and the presidential candidate for the CPC in the last presidential poll , Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, said he would not react now on the registration because the National Chairman of the new party, Chief Bisi Akande, had yet to brief him.

“ The general cannot react to the registration now because he is yet to be briefed by our national chairman , Chief Akande. So until the general hears from the national hierarchy of the party, he will not comment on the registration of the party. He will talk to the press as soon as he is well informed from the national level,” said Buhari’s spokesman, Yau Darazo.

Ribadu also welcomed the registration and charged members of the APC to strive hard for the ultimate goal of dislodging the PDP.

In a statement in Abuja, he congratulated key players in the ACN, CPC and ANPP “for setting their personal interests aside in order to allow for the mutation of a pan-Nigerian party that can provide a credible alternative to the ruling party”.

The statement by his media aide, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, quoted him as saying, “Like millions of Nigerians from all over the country, I am immensely delighted over the successful registration of the All Progressives Congress by INEC.”

According to him, the registration of the party by the electoral body “is not the end but the beginning of the end of misrule and cluelessness” by the PDP.

The former CPC also threw its weight behind the INEC decision, saying it had given Nigerians a choice between “good and evil.”

“Today(Wednesday) Nigerians now have a choice between good and evil. Now that the APC has been registered, genuine choice has been put before Nigerians. For the very first time, Nigeria and Nigerians have now been put at the driver’s seat of their destiny, it said through its ex-National Publicity Secretary, Rotimi Fashakin.

On its part, the ACF said the registration of APC would enhance the growth of democracy in the country.

Its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Anthony Sani, told one of our correspondents that any democracy without a viable opposition was as good as a fraud.

“The registration of the APC as a political party is a healthy development needed for the growth of democracy, especially when regard is paid to the fact that any democracy without a viable alternative platform is a sham,” it said.

However, the PDP which also welcomed the registration, said the APC was not a threat to its dominance of the nation’s political scene.

“The registration of the new party poses no threat to the PDP. The ruling party still maintains its preeminent position and enjoys the widest popularity and acceptance among Nigerians across the country,” its Acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Tony Okeke, said in a statement.

The PDP added, “With the registration of the APC, Nigerians now expect the leaders of the opposition party to eschew all forms of bitterness and desperation and desist from politics of propaganda which characterised their former parties.”

According to the PDP, Nigerians would like to see a “vibrant opposition” that would be constructively engaged in issues of governance instead of overheating the polity.

One of the groups that almost thwarted APC’s registration, the African People’s Congress held an emergency meeting, barely 30 minutes after INEC issued its statement approving the new party.

The African People’s Congress which will on Thursday (today) issue a statement on the APC registration, may have assembled a legal team to fine-tune the suit it filed at a Federal High Court, Abuja challenging its non-registration by INEC.

“We are aware of INEC’s decision. We are currently meeting on it. We will come out with a press statement tomorrow (today) and you will hear our appropriate response,” its National Legal Adviser, Mr. Kingsley Nnadi, told one of our correspondents in Abuja.

Be Original

Be Original

Those who fake it
Don't truly make it
True success begs for genuineness
Achieve what you can defend
Defend what you can achieve
No one else is totally like you
Be unique, be different.

Shame aims to disgrace the fake
Praise raises its head high
To honour those with honourable ways
Nail falsehood to the cross
And greatness will resurrect
From the unseen grave
To bow before you.
